Boys Varsity Basketball · Baker Brothers Lead Chargers In Win Vs. Tempe Prep

Seniors Sean and Eric Baker led Arete Prep to a 69-39 win over visiting Tempe Prep on Tuesday night. The Chargers came out of the gates a little slower than usual, and the Knights hung around until halftime, where the Chargers held a 32-22 lead. A 9-0 run to start the 3rd quarter stretched the lead and the Chargers never looked back. Sean Baker was a prescence in the paint and in transition from the opening tip. He racked up 26 points and 14 rebounds. Twin brother Eric ran the Charger offense and break efficiently, finishing with 17 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals. Arete Prep moves to 5-1 on the regular season, with a one point OT loss to San Tan Foothills the only blemish on their record.

In the girls varsity matchup, the Knights jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 43-16 win.  The loss snapped a two game win streak for the Chargers. Freshman Alissa Kassebaum led Arete in scoring with 8 points and added 9 rebounds.

All three Charger teams return to action tomorrow night, Thursday 12/13, as they travel to Chandler Prep. The JV Boys play at 4pm, followed by girls (5:30), and boys (7:00) varsity action.
